Tan Care
Prep & Aftercare
Before you step into the glow zone, let’s get your skin prepped and poppin’. And babe, don’t wait ‘til the day-of—hit up my Amazon Storefront for all your prep essentials ahead of time. Come on a little shopping spree and show up ready like the glowy goddess you are 💅🏽
- Exfoliate: Start prepping 12–24 hours before your tan. Use a gentle, oil-free exfoliator (like the one on my storefront!) to buff away dead skin—especially on elbows, knees, ankles, and dry spots. Skip Dove. You want clean, smooth skin, not residue.
- Shave or Wax: Handle all hair removal 12–24 hours before your appointment so your skin has time to calm down and your pores can close. This gives a smoother, longer-lasting glow.
- No Moisturizers or Makeup: Day-of = bare skin only. No lotion, deodorant, oils, or makeup—these create barriers and mess with the magic.
- Wear Loose Clothing: Think oversized black tee and flip flops. No tight leggings, no bras, no jewelry. Let your tan breathe.
- Stay Hydrated: Hydrated skin = a better, longer-lasting tan. Sip water like it’s your job in the days before your appointment.
You just got sprayed by the best, now it’s time to protect the glow like it’s VIP. Follow these steps to make your tan last, fade flawless, and keep that glow-up glowing.
- The Initial Rinse:
Your first rinse will be 3 to 6 hours after your appointment—I’ll let you know your exact time.- Use lukewarm water only.
- No soap, scrubbing, or shampoo during this rinse!
- Let the bronzer wash off gently.
- NO DOVE. I’m watching. 👀
- Pat dry only—no rubbing.
- Hair Watch:
Refrain from washing your hair for 24 hours. Shampoo can drip and mess with your tan. Dry shampoo it up, babe. - Moisturize Daily:
This is KEY. Hydrated skin = longer lasting tan. Grab a tan-safe lotion from my Amazon storefront and apply daily. (Oil-free is ideal!) - Sweat? Not Today:
For the first 24 hours, avoid sweating, workouts, saunas, or anything steamy. Streaks are not invited to the party. - Gentle Cleansing Only:
Use a sulfate-free, oil-free body wash and apply with your hands—no loofahs, no scrubbing. NO DOVE (again… we do not trust her). - Pool & Ocean Life:
Chlorine and saltwater will fade your tan faster. If you’re going to swim, apply a thick layer of lotion beforehand and rinse off after. And wear SPF always, babe. Glow + protection = baddie goals. - Shaving:
Wait 24–48 hours, and use a fresh, sharp razor with a moisturizing body wash like Cetaphil (linked in my Amazon recs). Light pressure only! - One Week Later… Exfoliate Lightly:
As your tan starts to fade, gently exfoliate to ensure an even fade and prep for your next glow-up.
